Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I join OASIIS?

We believe in the strength of numbers and that we are stronger together. We also envision OASIIS as the conduit to share limited resources, while also building a space to foster sharper skills and increase capacity. OASIIS is committed to forging cross-border collaborations and amplifying the impact of our partners within the region.

How can I participate or engage with OASIIS?

We are building different pathways so everyone working toward information integrity in Asia–Oceania can participate at a level that suits them:

Community member: If you haven't filled out the membership form yet, but you are getting regular updates, then you are here. This is what we call the open level. It is for anyone who is passionate about our mission and wants to know how we are doing.

Organisational member: You want to join and get involved? Here is the membership form. If you're part of an organisation (like a fact-checking project, newsroom, NGO or research group), we'd like one person to attend meetings (or a stand-in if they can't make it). We consider applications for individual members on a case-by-case basis for now. Please see the different categories on the membership registration form.

OASIIS Council member: For the next level, if you excel at devising strategies for continuity in challenging times and making quick informed decisions, we welcome you to try for our elected leadership roles representing one of our five sub-regions: East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Oceania and Central Asia. These roles will be open for voting in the coming months.

I'm ready to commit. What are the requirements to join OASIIS?

A core criteria is you and/or organisation must be working to advance information integrity and must be based or serve the Asia-Oceania region.

You can apply under any of the three categories:
Category 1 (Media / Fact-checking initiatives);
Category 2 (CSOs / NGOs), and
Category 3 (Individuals).

Please note that OASIIS is currently prioritising applications from organisations. This focus helps us build structured collaboration, resource sharing, and collective representation from the start.

How much does membership cost?

For 2026, membership fees are waived.

I have already filled up the membership registration form for OASIIS before this… Am I already a member?

If you have filled up the membership registration form, thank you very much. We are still processing applications and will send a welcome email once this process is complete.
