Hello everyone! It is a new month and we here at OASIIS would like to renew our efforts on choosing an elected advisory council again.
Let me explain.

🗳️ New call for nominees for the OASIIS Advisory Council
That’s right. It is not déjà vu; it is indeed take two of the same election that was called in May 2026. By the end of the month, it was called off rather than prolonged as there were not enough candidates to hold the voting process.
The founding Steering Committee would like to attempt this again and we call for those who want to contribute and be active parts of the decision-making and strategy-crafting process in OASIIS to raise up your hands and put in your name as a nominee.
Some of the questions we anticipate you might have on why OASIIS is doing this:
What is the point of the election process?
This has always been part of the strategy behind OASIIS and we want a good representation of the active stakeholders in the subregions. The second reason is giving legitimacy to a new group of drivers behind OASIIS as the founding Steering Committee members are around because they have been the ones who started the entity.
What does an advisory council member do?
We have prepared a Term of Reference here, which spells out what nominee responsibilities are once they are voted in as an advisory council member representing their subregion.
Besides advocating for their subregion, other responsibilities of an advisory council member include participating and contributing to strategy process and establishing frameworks and governance within OASIIS.
Is this a paid position?
The role is generally unremunerated (voluntary), though OASIIS may cover reasonable travel and accommodation expenses for official business.

To ensure diverse representation, seats are allocated as follows:
East Asia: 2 seats
South Asia: 2 seats
Southeast Asia: 2 seats
Oceania: 2 seats
Central Asia: 1 seat
A member organisation cannot have more than one person serving on the Council or Board at the same time.
Time Commitment: Members should expect to commit to regular meetings.
Note: Per the Constitution, failing to attend three consecutive Council meetings results in automatic cessation of the appointment.
